Tragedy in Machakos: Six-Year-Old Dies After Poisoning by Her Mother, Police Launch Investigation
A tragic incident has occurred in Kaseve village, Masinga, Machakos County, where a young girl lost her life after being poisoned by her biological mother.
The six-year-old child succumbed to the poisoning, as confirmed by authorities, following the distressing events on Monday in Masinga County.
According to police reports, the mother, aged 25, had poisoned both her daughters—one aged six and the other nine—before attempting to take her own life by ingesting the same poison.
Fortunately, the mother and her nine-year-old daughter were found alive and rushed to Embu Level 5 Hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment.
The severity of the situation has prompted medical staff to monitor their conditions closely.
The alarm was raised shortly after the incident, with the Masinga police station being informed by Kyondoni assistant chief Ruth Munguti.
Residents of the village reportedly responded to loud cries from a nearby bush, where they found the mother and her two children lying unconscious on the ground.

They acted swiftly, transporting the trio to Kyondoni dispensary for emergency medical care. From there, they were transferred to Kivaa Health Centre, located within the Masinga subcounty.
Sadly, it was at this health facility that the six-year-old girl was pronounced dead due to the poisoning.
The surviving mother and her nine-year-old daughter were later taken to Embu Level 5 hospital for more advanced treatment.
Meanwhile, local law enforcement agencies have launched a thorough investigation to uncover more details surrounding the heartbreaking incident.
Police officials are working to determine the motive behind the mother’s actions and to gather all available evidence related to the tragic deaths.
