    Morara Kebaso Arrested Again

Lawyer-turned-activist David Morara Kebaso was reportedly arrested again by police on Tuesday, October 8.

Morara announced his arrest via a post on X social media. His lawyer revealed that the activist was detained around 11 a.m. and forcibly placed into a Subaru vehicle, which is commonly associated with officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

In a series of tweets, Moraraโ€™s lawyer, Pareno Solonka, voiced his concerns, stating, โ€œMorara has just been bundled into this Subaru by DCI officials. We donโ€™t know where he is being taken or the reasons for being taken.โ€ He later confirmed that Morara had been taken to Langata Police Station.

Morara’s wife, Mercy Morara, also verified his arrest, stating on X social media, “They have arrested @MoraraKebasoSnr again.”

According to Morara, he was arrested in connection with the disturbances that occurred at the Bomas of Kenya on Friday. He expressed his disbelief, writing, “I have been arrested over what happened at Bomas. Can you imagine?”

Morara had attended a public meeting regarding a special motion aimed at impeaching Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, but he was forced to leave after being violently assaulted. He sustained injuries during the attack.

Upon his arrival at the event on Friday, Kebaso faced hostility. Shortly after taking his seat, an unidentified group attacked him, throwing chairs that resulted in injuries to his head, neck, and legs.

This is Morara’s second arrest in just over a week. Last Monday evening, he was detained by masked police and appeared in court the following day on charges of cyber-harassment. This incident sparked significant public outcry, especially in Nairobi, where he was first held.

During his previous arrest, Solonka noted that Kebaso had been held without communication, with officers claiming they were following “orders from above.”

At only 28 years old, Morara has gained a substantial social media following, primarily due to his vocal criticisms of alleged corruption and the misuse of public funds through non-existent or stalled projects.

His earlier arrest included the confiscation of his phones and laptop, raising concerns over his safety and the reasons behind his detention.

The state prosecutor has accused Morara of tarnishing the reputation of businessman David Langat in a post on X that also mentioned President William Ruto. This recent arrest comes nearly three months after a surge of youth-led anti-government protests highlighting issues of governance and accountability in the nation.
