Millicent Omanga Shorlisted for Govt Job
Millicent Omanga is poised to secure a government position after being shortlisted for a role on the Commission of Administrative Justice (CAJ), commonly referred to as the Ombudsman.
A notice from the Chairperson of the Selection Panel for nominee appointments revealed that Omanga is one of 42 candidates selected for consideration. Additionally, 10 other candidates have been shortlisted for the position of CAJ Chairperson.
She will be competing for the role against notable figures, including Judith Nayiai Pareno, the former chair of the ODM National Elections Board, and Major (Rtd) John Kamunya Karanja.
“The selection panel has reviewed all applications for the CAJ Chairperson role and has shortlisted candidates to attend interviews on the designated date and time,” part of the notice stated.
Interviews for those shortlisted are scheduled for October 17 at the 12th Floor Boardroom of Harambee House, with interview times varying for each candidate. They are required to arrive at least 30 minutes before their appointed times.
The CAJ is a commission established under Article 59 (4) of the Constitution and the CAJ Act, 2011, tasked with investigating complaints regarding delays, abuse of power, unfair treatment, manifest injustices, and discourtesy, among other issues. The Commission also oversees improper administration within the public sector.
The public can contribute to the recruitment process by submitting information about the shortlisted candidates via an affidavit to the chairperson or selection panel.
Omanga has an extensive career, having held multiple roles. Before entering politics, she worked in various positions within the private sector.

Her initial attempt at politics was unsuccessful, as she lost the race for Nairobi Woman Representative to Esther Passaris.
Following this defeat, she was nominated to the Senate by the Jubilee Party, a position she maintained until 2022.
After another unsuccessful bid for the Nairobi Woman Representative role in 2022, Omanga received a second chance from President William Ruto, who nominated her as one of 50 individuals for the Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) positions, assigning her to the Ministry of Interior and National Administration.
However, this appointment faced a setback when the President announced in June that Chief Administrative Secretaries would not be integrated into the government until the economy stabilizes.
In addition to the CAJ, several other state organizations are hiring, including the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC), the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA), and the National Gender and Equality Commission (NGEC).
In another significant development, Racheal Shebesh was shortlisted on Monday among 15 other candidates for a potential membership in the National Gender and Equality Commission (NGEC).
Shebesh is set to appear before the selection panel on October 17, competing alongside Salome Aluoch Owuonda, Margaret Lyasi Lesuuda, Juliet Wanjiku Murimi, and Harun Maalim Hassan.
