“I’ll Fight to The End”- DP Laughs Off Resignation Rumours
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has ruled out resignation as an option to bring to an end the impending impeachment motion against
Speaking at his official residence in Karen Monday night, the DP termed as a joker anyone thinking throwing in the towel was on the cards as the majority of MPs bay for his blood.
โI have no intention whatsoever to resign from this job. I will fight to the end,โ the DP said.
The impeachment motion was brought against him by Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse.
The legislator cited 11 grounds, including corruption, gross misconduct, violation of the constitution, and undermining the President among other alleged illegalities, including the alleged acquisition of Sh5.2 billion of unexplained wealth in just two years.
Gachagua has denied the allegations, terming them a political witchhunt.
He said the resignation is out of the question as he has tremendous respect for the countryโs judicial system and judges to entertain the idea of voluntarily opting out of office over outrageous accusations.
โThe impeachment of a deputy president elected by 7.2 million people is not a small matter that can hastily be decided by a few members of Parliament and senators and wish it away,” the DP said.

“I will submit myself to independent institutions to get justice, and Iโm sure, I have no doubt in my mind that I will get justice,โ the DP emphasized.
Gachagua said a few people have been sending his friends to sweet talk him into taking the easier route of resigning, but he declined.
โPlease, I donโt want to be enemies with you. When youโre given such silly messages [to persuade me to resign], donโt bring them to me.”
The DP said he has worked very hard over the two years he has been in office and his loyalty to President William Ruto, whom he’s accused of undermining, has been unwavering.
โThis impeachment will be thrown out and I will carry out my duties as Deputy President, that is why anybody sending fillers to me to resign is a joker,โ he said.
The DP reiterated that sovereign power rests with the people who exercised their constitutional right through the ballot on August 9, by overwhelmingly voting for him and the President.
“I’ve no intention, I cannot resign,” he stressed.
“I did not give myself this job; I was given it by the people of Kenya. I have done nothing wrong against the people of Kenya.โ
