Morara Kebaso Reveals His Attack Was Planned Before Arriving at Bomas
Lawyer and political activist Morara Kebaso described on Monday how the attack on him at Bomas of Kenya during the public participation event regarding Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s impeachment was premeditated.
Speaking on Spice FM, Kebaso expressed his belief that the attack had been planned in advance and that security measures had been compromised before he even arrived at the venue.
The activist further stated that he was struck with over 30 metal chairs despite only attending the event as a regular citizen to share his views during the public participation process.
“It appears the attack was preplanned. The public demanded that I speak, but it was against the emcee TJ Kajwang’s wishes. I was cornered, my bodyguard was injured, and I was hit by over 30 metal chairs,” Morara revealed.
“I am now reflecting to see what went wrong; there were clear warning signs that I failed to notice. We fall, we rise, we learn,” he added.
Kebaso also shared that upon arriving at Bomas of Kenya, police blocked his entry until the public intervened on his behalf. Even after gaining access to the compound, officers—allegedly from the General Service Unit (GSU)—continued to deny him access to the venue.
“I had publicly announced that I would attend the event, with my stance being that both the President and Deputy President should be impeached. Some people felt uncomfortable with my position,” he explained.
According to Kebaso, he was only granted access after a senior police officer at one of the entrances intervened, with the condition that he be accompanied by only one person.

Morara recounted that his safety was compromised because only one member of his security team was allowed to join him, which added to his suspicion about the intent behind these restrictions.
“At the first door, I encountered a high-ranking officer, and she informed me I could only enter with one person. I believe this was the point where my security was compromised,” he shared.
“I can’t say for sure if the police intended to compromise my security, but I was only allowed in with one individual,” he added.
Morara also detailed how attackers approached from behind the dais and hurled chairs at him, injuring both his security guard and himself, leaving him immobile.
He attempted to escape, but his efforts were in vain as all exits were locked. Morara claimed that he already knew the people who incited the attackers.
“I listened as others voiced their opinions, and when I raised my hand, the public pointed at me and demanded I speak. TJ Kajwang’ refused, accusing me of wanting to disrupt the meeting. I stood up and asked for the microphone. Suddenly, some attackers emerged from behind the dais, causing chaos and throwing chairs at me,” Morara said.
Kebaso made his first public appearance yesterday, appearing frail and calling on Police IG Douglas Kanja to arrest those who attacked him, emphasizing that the incident was televised.
