Osotsi Promises More Organized Azimio Demo with Improved Understanding of Opposition Tactics

Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi says the weekly rallies that the coalition leader of Azimio la Umoja One Kenya promised on Monday will be more “tactical.”

This is a result of the opposition leader Raila Odinga’s protest on Monday, in which all roads leading to key government institutions were blocked, forcing the entourage to pass through residential areas outside the city center.

As part of the protest, Odinga stated that the opposition would send representatives to the State House to voice the group’s grievances.

According to Osotsi, this impeded the opposition’s alleged plans to deliver a petition to President William Ruto’s official residence.

“They prevented us from presenting the petition by blocking all avenues, but we now understand their strategy,” Osotsi stated on Tuesday that as the Monday holidays continue, the team will improve, become more organized, and grow.

In the meantime, Odinga has announced that every Monday there will be protests similar to those organized by the opposition.

According to him, Monday’s demonstration was only the beginning of what he calls a fight for justice, and the demonstrations will continue until the price of maize flour decreases.

Other Azimio-aligned politicians referred to Monday’s demonstration as a “dress rehearsal,” stating that Kenyans should anticipate additional demonstrations as the opposition maintains pressure on President William Ruto’s administration to comply with their demands.

“Today was only a dress rehearsal; the real thing is coming,” Suna East legislator Junet Mohamed stated.

Legislators dismissed the National Police Service’s position that the protests are illegal, arguing that the mass action is in the best interests of Kenyans.
