Morara Speaks Out After Bomas Attack During Public Participation: ‘I Live to Fight Another Day!'”

Lawyer turned activist Kebaso Morara has spoken up after being attacked by delegates at the Bomas of Kenya during the public participation exercise on the impeachment of deputy president Rigathi Gachagua.

Taking to his X platform, Morara confirmed the incident saying that he had initially been denied entry at the gate and once he got in, he was denied the microphone to address the public as well.

โ€œI was barred from entering Bomas at the gate. When I finally got in, I was denied the mic on Bomas’s floor. Chaos erupted. I am hurt. Headed to hospital. I live to speak another day,โ€ his post read.

In videos seen by Gossipa2z.com, delegates were depicted throwing chairs at Morara, disrupting the exercise momentarily and forcing him to run for safety.

Kebaso was seen shielding himself from the objects being thrown at him as the chaos intensified with more people attacking him and his entire team putting their safety at risk.

Police officers, who were on high alert during the tense exercise had to intervene to escort the activist out of the premises allowing the chaos to dissipate and the exercise that had temporarily been halted to resume.

Kebaso had previously aired his opinion on the impeachment plot, terming it a diversionary tactic the government was using to distract Kenyans from matters of more national concern like the implementation of the Social Health Authority (SHA) and the controversial JKIA-Adani deal.

Further commenting on the issue, he affirmed that since the Deputy President and the President were elected under one ticket, both of them should either be impeached or remain in government. According to him, impeaching DP Gachagua on his own would be inconsequential.

This has been a sentiment that has been shared by several Kenyans across the country as public participation kicked off at the constituency level early this morning.

However, Bomas of Kenya was not the only venue to suffer a disruption as several other counties, especially in the Mount Kenya region recorded protests denouncing the entire impeachment motion completely.

In Nyeri County where the DP hails from, tensions boiled over when the residents lit bonfires on the roads heading to the public participation venues.

The exercise was also temporarily disrupted in Nakuru County when residents started questioning the credibility of the forms that were being used in the process, calling them fake and doctored over their lack of serial numbers. Some of them were also said to have been photocopied.
