Bomas Chaos: Delegates Throw Chairs at Morara Kebaso(Video)
Tension erupted at Nairobi’s Bomas of Kenya on Friday during a public hearing regarding Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s impeachment.
The commotion began when lawyer-turned-activist Morara Kebaso entered the venue with a group of youths. Upon his arrival, some rowdy individuals started throwing chairs at him, forcing him to flee for safety.
Footage obtained by Gossipa2z.com showed Morara trying to protect himself from the furious crowd, who continued to hurl objects at him.
As the situation worsened, police officers intervened, removing the activist from the hall and restoring order, temporarily halting the proceedings.
Speaking about the incident, Kebaso revealed that he was injured during the scuffle and intended to seek medical treatment.
“I was blocked at the Bomas gate. When I finally got inside, I was denied the chance to speak. Chaos broke out. I’m hurt. Heading to the hospital. I will speak another day,” Kebaso posted on X.

Kebaso had vowed to oppose the deputy president’s impeachment, arguing that Gachagua was elected alongside President William Ruto, making the impeachment ineffective unless both were removed. He insisted that if Gachagua was to be impeached, the president should also step down.
Kebaso also claimed that the impeachment effort was a ploy by Ruto’s administration to divert public attention from controversial projects like the Social Health Authority (SHA). “They’ve succeeded in shifting our focus from key issues like the Adani deal,” Kebaso alleged.
The incident at Bomas of Kenya came just minutes after similar tensions in Nyeri and Kiambu counties, where residents refused to participate in the deputy president’s impeachment process.
Protesters accused President Ruto’s administration of politically targeting Gachagua. They argued that since Gachagua and Ruto were elected together, removing the deputy president also meant impeaching Ruto.
“No Rigathi, no Ruto. Leave the mountain alone. We fully support Gachagua,” the protesters chanted, calling for an end to public participation, labeling the grounds for impeachment as weak.
In Nyeri, demonstrators blocked the main road leading to town, prompting police intervention. Despite this, the determined protesters vowed to continue opposing the impeachment.
