Gachagua’s Close Ally Gakuya Reveals Why DP Won’t Survive Impeachment
Embakasi North MP James Gakuya, an ally of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, hinted on Tuesday that the DP’s camp may have accepted there is little they can do to prevent the upcoming impeachment motion.
During a TV47 panel discussion, Gakuya criticized the National Assembly’s leadership for engaging in partisan politics on this controversial issue.
He pointed out that Speaker Moses Wetangula and his deputy, Gladys Boss, undermined the integrity of the motion by publicly taking sides, as the motion is set to be presented today.
Gakuya emphasized that Wetangula’s support for Gachagua’s impeachment suggested that the deputy president’s fate was already determined.
“The Speaker Moses Wetangula and Deputy Gladys Boss Shollei made their stance on Gachagua’s impeachment very clear, indicating the situation was irreversible,” Gakuya stated.

He added, “Their comments show that there is no turning back; the decision is made, and Gachagua must be sacrificed.”
Former Mwingi Central MP Joe Mutambu backed Gakuya’s sentiments, claiming that President William Ruto was behind the challenges Gachagua currently faces.
Mutambu suggested that this was due to the president’s belief that Gachagua was involved in recent anti-government protests.
These comments come as the country prepares for the tabling of the impeachment motion, which several MPs have indicated will occur today.
On Sunday, September 29, Speaker Moses Wetangula expressed support for Gachagua’s impeachment, citing his belief that the deputy president had fueled instability with his statements.
Speaking at Wamunyu Catholic Church in Machakos County, Wetangula argued that those causing chaos should be removed.
“We must remember that our diversity is our strength. If anyone tries to disrupt national peace, they should be removed, as we strive for peace for all,” Wetangula said.
