MPs List Ksh 5.7B Properties Gachagua Bought Through His Sons
Details regarding the properties supposedly owned by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua have surfaced as discussions about his impeachment intensify.
On Saturday, September 28, a nine-point motion detailing various accusations against Gachagua was made public, with lawmakers planning to present it on Tuesday in an urgent effort to remove the Deputy President from office.
Among the claims outlined in the 40-page impeachment motion, which was partially obtained and analyzed by Gossipa2z.com, is the allegation that Gachagua has amassed assets totaling Ksh5.7 billion during his two-year tenure as President William Ruto’s deputy.
Officially, a Kenyan deputy president is anticipated to earn just over Ksh12 million annually. Consequently, the impeachment motion raises concerns about how Gachagua could amass such significant wealth in a brief period.
Gossipa2z.com has since acquired a document that outlines the properties purportedly owned by Gachagua, including several upscale hotels situated along the Kenyan coast.
The properties listed include Tree Tops Hotel, Outspan Hotel from Aberdare Safari Hotels, Olive Gardens Hotel, and Vipingo Beach Resort in Kilifi County, among others.

The document indicates that Gachagua allegedly acquired these properties through close family members and his sons, Kevin Rigathi Gachagua and Keith Ikinu Rigathi.
Additional accusations slated for presentation against the deputy president involve breaches of the National Cohesion and Integration Act, the Proceeds of Crime and Anti-Money Laundering Act, the Penal Code, and the Leadership and Integrity Act.
Following the High Court’s decision on Monday to deny interim orders to prevent the impeachment motion against Gachagua from being presented, the Deputy President now faces a serious risk of losing his position just two years after being sworn in alongside Ruto.
In response to the allegations, Gachagua stated during an interview with a local radio station in Central Kenya that he did not request Ksh8 billion as a compensation package from President William Ruto.
According to Gachagua, had his primary motivation been financial gain, he could have easily accepted a substantial offer from Ruto’s opponents.
“I don’t have many needs; my children are grown, and my wife is a pastor… Money is not my priority; Kenyans come first,” Gachagua asserted.
