    Assembling Protesters in Nairobi.

A group of demonstrators has begun to gather in Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD) ahead of a planned mass action by Azimio la Umoja, which is expected to take place throughout Monday 20th.

Some protesters were spotted holding sufurias and shouting pro-Raila Odinga slogans near City Hall, as well as outside the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) and other streets in the CBD.

However, videos seen by GossipA2Z Digital showed that several protesters were arrested shortly after by police and taken away.

In Kibra, protesters started assembling in groups early on Monday morning, but police officers fired tear gas to disperse the group, who had begun pelting stones at them.

At the time of publication, most parts of the CBD remained calm, with many shops closed and traffic flow low. However, Azimio’s top-ranking leaders, including Odinga himself, have not yet appeared.

Odinga has insisted that his demonstrations will be peaceful and are part of his plan to pressure the government to address concerns such as the high cost of living.

His daughter, Winnie Odinga, has also stated that she will be participating in the demonstrations.

In summary, a group of protesters has gathered in Nairobi’s CBD ahead of planned mass action by Azimio la Umoja, which is intended to last throughout Monday 20th.

Some arrests have already been made, and tear gas has been used to disperse protesters in Kibra. Most of the CBD remains calm, with shops closed and traffic low.

Odinga and other top-ranking Azimio leaders have not yet appeared, but Winnie Odinga has confirmed that she will be taking part in the demonstrations.
