Pastor found dead inside Kikuyu musician’s home prompts investigation

Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives are investigating the death of Elizabeth Githingi, a preacher whose body was discovered at the residence of Kikuyu gospel musician Mirugi Dishon.

Elizabeth, Mirugi’s ex-girlfriend, visited his home in Kahawa West on Saturday, according to a statement recorded at the Kiamumbi police station on Saturday.

He explained to the officers that she had brought his suit from Nakuru, but once she arrived at his home, she decided to clean both his house and his clothes because they were filthy.

He continued by saying that while she was cleaning, he ran errands on Thika Road.

According to the statement, he returned home shortly thereafter because he was unable to contact Elizabeth by phone.

Mirungi asserts that upon returning home, he discovered Elizabeth hanging from a bedsheet in his closet.

He asserts that he untied the body and placed it in his car before driving to the Jacaranda Maternity Home.

According to the police report, Jacaranda’s medical staff refused to retrieve Elizabeth’s body because she was already deceased.

He then drove to the Kiamumbi police station with the body still in his vehicle, but officers instructed him to report the incident to the Kahawa West police station.

Officers at the Kahawa West police station refused to collect the body and advised him to file a report at the Kasarani police station.

The situation was identical at the Kasarani police station, where officers also refused to pick up the body and explained to the victim that he should have reported the discovery immediately.

He was permitted to transport the body to the Kenyatta University Mortuary on Saturday evening after driving the body between police stations.

On Sunday, the musician returned to the Kasarani police station to record a statement regarding Elizabeth’s death, accompanied by DCI homicide detectives who have assumed control of the investigation.
