Boniface Mwangi Issues Demand to Ruto After Court Frees Him, Vows to March to State House

Activist Boniface Mwangi has pledged to lead a procession to State House, urging President William Ruto to address the rising number of abductions.

Addressing the media outside the Milimani Law Courts in Nairobi on Tuesday, September 3, Mwangi, who has transitioned from journalism to activism, criticized President Ruto’s administration for its inaction regarding the recent kidnapping of three Kenyans in Kitengela, Kajiado County.

Mwangi plans to march to the State House soon, where he intends to present a list of all missing individuals to the President.

He emphasized, โ€œWe demand the unconditional release of these three men and everyone else who is missing.โ€

Mwangi further stated, โ€œWe will march to the State House to hand over a list of the missing people, as it is a public office.โ€

This announcement came after Mwangi was released from custody in connection with accusations of inciting violence during recent anti-government protests.

Mwangi, along with four others, faced charges of participating in an unlawful assembly and disseminating false information.

They were released after the court denied a two-week extension requested by the prosecution to complete its investigation.

Mwangi’s actions follow President Rutoโ€™s comments denying any knowledge of abductions related to the recent anti-state demonstrations.

During a town hall meeting in Kisumu, Ruto encouraged Kenyans to report any cases of missing persons from recent demonstrations to the Ministry of Interior for further investigation.

Ruto stated, โ€œIf any family has a child or relative who went to a demonstration and never returned, I want to know their names.โ€

He assured, โ€œI will take strong and decisive action, as I currently have no information about anyone who has been abducted or disappeared.โ€
