Residents Build Road in MP Kuria Kimani Backyard After Hitting Dead End

Mutirithia Village residents in Molo took matters into their own hands to repair a neglected road after repeated attempts to contact their local MP and County Assembly member proved fruitless.

The villagers had long complained about the deteriorating condition of the road, holding both their Member of County Assembly and Member of Parliament, Kimani Kuria, accountable for their inaction.

In a bid to resolve the issue, the community pooled their resources and purchased materials to undertake the road repairs themselves.

“The road has been in poor condition for a long time, causing discomfort for everyone. Even our customers complain of back pain,” said Jacob Ochieng, a boda boda operator.

“Weโ€™ve decided to fix the road ourselves since our MP has failed to act,” he added, expressing frustration over the lack of support.

The residents voiced their disappointment in Kimani, stating they have not seen him since his election, despite his responsibility to serve the community.

They emphasized the road’s importance as an alternative route to Mau Summit, which is often congested, questioning why their leaders have neglected such a vital pathway.

“This road is crucial, yet our leaders don’t seem to care. It’s a health risk for children heading to school,” one resident remarked.

Michael Mutito, another resident, criticized the MP for failing to fulfill his promises to improve their lives, noting that some leaders are more accessible in pubs than in their offices.

The community urged their leaders to address the dire state of their roads and take immediate action.
