Junet Mohamed Hilariously ‘Donates’ Nyanza Hills to Rigathi Gachagua: “Iko Milima Mingi Hapa”
In a light-hearted and humorous moment, Suna East MP Junet Mohamed has taken a swipe at Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
The witty lawmaker jokingly ‘donated’ several hills in Nyanza to the deputy president, presumably about Gachagua’s sustained lobbying for Mt Kenya.
The DP has come under criticism for his consistent support for his backyard, popularly referring to the region as Mlima.
How did Junet pull one on Gachagua?
During Treasury CS John Mbadi’s thanksgiving service at Magunga in his Suba South constituency, Junet declared his “gift” with a chuckle.
Junet listed some of the hills in Homa Bay that might be up for grabs by the DP, adding that he was welcome to stay among them.
“I’ve seen you’ve been out with your deputy. You know, Kenya is a very interesting place. We are in a period of appreciating mountains. You’ve seen there are many mountains here, and I want to donate three mountains to the deputy president so that when he comes back here, he can live with us on these mountains. There’s Gwassi Hill, Migori, and Nyasare. Let’s connect these mountains so that we all live on the mountain together,” Junet said amid laughter.

How did Gachagua respond to Junet?
In response, the deputy president acknowledged the jest with equal humor, asking Junet to get deeds to the hills.
He explained he would unite ‘his mountain’ with the hills from Homa Bay to forge a united Kenya moving forward.
“And this mountain, Junet, you need to get the title deed so we can sit down with you, Mr. President, to unite our mountain, and then Kenya can move forward. Because all of Kenya is ours at the same time,” the DP stated.
Mwangi Kiunjuri slams Gachagua
Separately, Laikipia East MP Mwangi Kiunjuri accused the DP of trying to isolate the Mt Kenya region for personal political gain.
Kiunjuri claimed Gachagua’s efforts to consolidate support in Mt Kenya are part of a broader scheme to weaken Ruto’s influence.
The Service Party leader urged Mt Kenya leaders to remain united with the central administration despite Gachagua’s actions.
Kiunjuri accused Gachagua of focusing on regional politics instead of supporting the implementation of the Kenya Kwanza coalition’s campaign promises.
