Constitutional Crisis Looms: Eugene Wamalwa Warns of Plot to Remove Presidential Term Limits
DAP-K Party leader Eugene Wamalwa has raised concerns about a potential move to amend Kenya’s constitution.
During the Okoa Katiba event at Ufangamano House on Wednesday, August 28, Wamalwa, a former Defence Cabinet Secretary, suggested there could be an effort to eliminate presidential term limits.
“We are gathered here today to defend and safeguard our Constitution, which is currently under threat. There is a plot to amend the Constitution, including a possible attempt to remove term limits, and we are committed to protecting it,” Wamalwa asserted.
In addition, the DAP-K leader criticized Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni for his recent comments against Embakasi East MP Babu Owino.
Wamalwa expressed his surprise at Museveni’s remarks, pointing out that Babu is young enough to be the Ugandan President’s grandson.

“We were shocked yesterday when we heard a head of state criticize someone who could be his grandson,” Wamalwa remarked.
He further mentioned, “I am a close friend of His Excellency Yoweri Museveni. I’ve known him for over two decades and have served as his advocate. Although I don’t know Bobi Wine, Bobi Wine knows Babu Owino, and the two are friends.”
On Tuesday, Museveni criticized Babu Owino for his associations with Ugandan opposition politicians who oppose the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM).
The Ugandan President appeared to suggest that the Embakasi East MP was unaware of the implications of his actions.
“Some members of Raila’s group seem unaware of what they are doing. I am well-informed through intelligence reports. There’s an individual named Babu, who is often seen interacting with anti-NRM groups,” Museveni stated.
