Kenyan Police Kill Haiti Gang Members in Major Ambush After Receiving New Armored Vehicles from US Government
Kenyan police officers in Haiti reportedly eliminated multiple gang members on Tuesday during a joint ambush operation with the Haitian Police Force.
A police report revealed that over 15 armored vehicles were seen transporting the officers toward the Bel-Air and Solino districts, situated on the outskirts of Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti.
The operation began in the early hours of the morning, with the designated areas of the two districts being secured before the mission commenced.
Godfrey Otunge, the head of the peacekeeping mission, confirmed the operation, describing it as the most significant offensive against the gangs since the mission started three months ago.
Otunge mentioned that locals, who were informed in advance, were evacuated from the targeted areas, leaving only the gang members who attempted to resist the officers.
During the operation, officers neutralized an unspecified number of gang members, while some managed to escape through the narrow alleys.
In his update, Otunge reiterated the officers’ dedication to restoring peace in Haiti and warned that operations would continue until the gangs surrendered.

However, three officers from the Haitian National Police sustained minor injuries during the sudden operation and received treatment.
Haitian police leaders emphasized that ongoing security operations would persist, with the Haitian government committing all necessary resources to support these joint efforts.
Following the successful mission, locals praised the police officers and expressed hope that continued operations could eventually eliminate the gang’s presence.
This mission occurred just four days after the officers received 24 armored mine-resistant ambush-protected vehicles from the U.S. government.
The Biden administration also provided around 34 Overhead Gunner Protection Kits, or “turrets,” to aid the Kenyan officers in their fight against the gangs.
The kits were installed on the armored vehicles to enhance their field of view during joint operations with the Haitian National Police.
