Ruto: Why bringing opposition leaders to Cabinet was my only option

President William Ruto has underscored his decision to involve opposition leaders in his government saying it was crucial for the unity of the nation.

Ruto who was addressing residents at Kobujoi in Aldai, Nandi, noted that Kenya was in an exceptional situation that necessitated putting aside personal or political interests.

“There comes a time in the life of a nation when the unity of the nation, the progress of Kenya, the transformation of our nation is much more important than any other political persuasion, political sides, political formation or any community interests,” he said.

“It is even beyond the personal interests of leaders, we must come together and that is such a moment in our country,” he added.

Ruto was accompanied by several leaders including Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi and her Lands counterpart Alice Wahome.

He was in the county to inspect the construction of the Kobujoi market.

It is due for commissioning in December.

Earlier on, the president launched the last mile connectivity project at Kesogon that will serve serve 6,000 homes.

The government, he stated, has allocated Sh330 million to the constituency for the program.

He said beginning next month, farmers will take home Sh50 for every liter of milk delivered.
