On the day of the impeachment debate, 49 out of 69 MCAs present voted in favor of her removal.
Mwangaza denied all charges leveled against her.
During the hearing, Mwangaza discussed her past relations with Meru leaders after surviving an impeachment attempt in 2023.
She revealed that she had taken steps to reconcile with the county’s leaders as advised by the Senate.
The Governor recounted how she traveled across Meru County to offer apologies to those she might have wronged.
She emphasized that she made peace with the leaders and assured them that there were no lingering conflicts.
“I went around Meru, apologizing to anyone I may have wronged. At one point, I said sorry 70 times—69 apologies to each MCA and one to the speaker. I said sorry 70 times,” she stated.
