Pharmacy and Poisons Board Recalls These Capsules, Warns Kenyans Against Using Them
The Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) announced a recall on Tuesday for S-Prazo (Esomeprazole Magnesium Delayed-Release Capsules 40mg) Batch No SPZ-302 after reports of a packaging error.
Esomeprazole, a medication for heartburn and acid-related conditions, is used to alleviate gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and treat stomach ulcers.
This medication helps manage GERD, where stomach acid refluxes into the esophagus, and also aids in the healing of stomach ulcers.
The PPB revealed that some packages contained incorrect blister strips, with both S-Prazo Capsules and Donystatin tablets mixed within the same carton.

Pharmacies, healthcare providers, and the general public have been instructed to stop distributing, selling, or using the affected batch.
Kenyans are advised to return the recalled drugs to local healthcare facilities or their suppliers.
The PPB urged all parties to cease any further distribution, sale, or use of the specified batch, reaffirming their dedication to public safety.
The PPB has called on the public to report any issues with substandard drugs or adverse reactions to their nearest healthcare facility or directly to the Pharmacy and Poisons Board.
This recall follows a recent alert from the government regarding Benylin pediatric 100ml cough syrup Batch No 329304, which was withdrawn by Nigeria’s National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) after being produced in South Africa.
Benylin pediatric syrup, a cough suppressant, works by reducing the urge to cough.
