Kurial to Ruto: “Mkitufukuza kwa Mlango Tunaingia kwa Dirisha, Mt Kenya are Shareholders, We are Going Nowhere”
As President William Ruto inaugurated a water project worth over Sh340 million in Nandi Hills, Nandi County, former Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria, speaking elsewhere in the same county, mocked the newly appointed Cabinet Secretaries while asserting that the Mt Kenya region remains firmly in government and won’t be sidelined.
Speaking in the Kobujoi area, Mr. Kuria stated that he holds no bitterness over losing his Cabinet position and welcomed the decision, emphasizing that every Kenyan deserves the chance to serve their fellow citizens.
Nonetheless, Mr. Kuria argued that Mt Kenya politicians endured significant challenges while campaigning for President Ruto, thus they merit respect and acknowledgment as major stakeholders in the government compared to other regions.
“Many of us from Mt Kenya were among the most targeted politicians while rallying support for President Ruto, which is why we hold substantial shares in this government,” Mr. Kuria remarked.
Mr. Kuria further insisted that as stakeholders in the Kenya Kwanza government, they are not going anywhere, despite his sacking as a Cabinet Secretary, reiterating his determination to remain influential in government due to their vested interests.
A month after being relieved of his duties, Mr. Kuria appears to have aligned with Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s narrative on political “shares,” which advocates for government appointments to reflect the vote ratios contributed by each region.

“In this government of William Ruto, we the people of the Mountain suffered a lot while fighting for President Ruto, and let me tell you something we are going nowhere, mkitufukuza kwa mlango tunaingia kwa dirisha, mkitufukuza kwa dirisha tunaingia kwa chimney. Tuko hapa ndani ya Serikali, hakuna mahali tunaenda. (if you drive us out of the door, we will enter through the window, if you drive us out of the window, we enter through the chimney. We are here in the Government to stay we are not going anywhere),” Mr Kuria said.
He cautioned that if they are pushed out of the government as shareholders, they will demand their dividends and refuse to “dissolve the company.”
Mr. Kuria stated he will seize every opportunity to remain in government.
“Some individuals who recently joined the government are now claiming shareholder status and are pushing for its closure. We’re not leaving,” asserted Mr. Kuria.
President Ruto expressed his delight, anticipating that over 10,000 households in Nandi Hills will soon receive clean piped water following the launch of a Sh 349 million water project.
During the project’s inauguration on Saturday, President Ruto remarked that the initiative was long-awaited and he was relieved to see it commence.
Dr. Ruto noted that the Nandi Hills Water Supply and Sanitation project is being expanded to serve over 10,000 households, up from the initial 1,000.

He mentioned that the project will receive Sh 200 million from the African Development Bank, with the remaining funds coming from the government.
“We are dedicated to providing clean drinking water to all Kenyans,” Dr. Ruto affirmed.
President Ruto instructed the new Water CS, Eric Mugaa, to ensure that piped water reaches all 10,000 targeted households within the next five months.
“I have monitored this program for a long time and have instructed the Water CS to ensure that within the next five months, every resident of the 10,000 targeted families will have piped water,” President Ruto directed.
President Ruto highlighted that the project aims to deliver water across a 75-kilometer area in Nandi County.
He added that due to the significant investment, the government expects substantial benefits for all targeted residents.
The Water CS assured that clean water access would be achieved as directed by the president but urged residents to assist in reducing water wastage from leaks.
“The president has mandated that all Kenyans must have clean water. We appreciate the government’s investment in this project. With Sh 340 million allocated, we will ensure water reaches every targeted citizen through the Nandi Hills water treatment plant. My role is to ensure the contractor meets this goal,” stated Mr. Mugaa.
During the project launch, Nandi County leaders, including Governor Stephen Sang, urged President Ruto to consider additional projects for the county.
The leaders requested President Ruto’s support in improving roads and other infrastructure to boost regional development.
They commended President Ruto for relocating Chepkoilel University to Nandi Hills in honor of the late Koitalel Samoei.
Notable attendees included MPs Benard Kitur (Nandi Hills), Paul Biego ‘Polo’ (Chesumei), and Julius Melly, among others.
