Jimi Wanjigi Reveals Plan to Push for Early Elections in Kenya

Prominent businessman and ex-presidential contender Jimi Wanjigi has unveiled an ambitious plan to trigger elections in Kenya ahead of the slated 2027 date.

In a Citizen TV interview, Wanjigi shared that his strategy is firmly rooted in a thorough understanding of Kenya’s constitutional framework and fueled by his strong dedication to tackling the nation’s economic challenges.

“I am a very intentional person,” Wanjigi remarked, reflecting on his 2022 presidential run.

“When I ran for the presidency in 2022, it was with full awareness of the challenges that lay ahead.”

Wanjigi highlighted that his ongoing focus on economic matters is not coincidental but part of a deliberate and well-thought-out plan.

He revealed that his team has crafted a comprehensive plan aligned with Kenya’s Constitution, particularly referencing Articles 1, 2, and 3.

These constitutional provisions affirm the people’s sovereignty, the Constitution’s supremacy, and the citizens’ right to exercise power directly or through elected representatives.

According to Wanjigi, this constitutional basis offers a legitimate avenue to initiate elections before 2027.

“We have crafted a plan by the Constitution, specifically Articles 1, 2, and 3, that will lead to an election before 2027,” Wanjigi announced.

He stressed the critical role of accountability and the people’s power in holding leaders to account, asserting that even the highest office can be challenged and potentially ousted by the electorate.

“My hope is that people recognize that even a president can be removed by the will of the people,” he said.

“You are accountable to the people; governance must be through the ballot.”

Wanjigi criticized President Ruto, stating that although he gained power constitutionally, he is governing through force.

His remarks come shortly after police officers raided his home in search of him but failed to locate him.
