Azimio Leaders Rebuke Raila for Backing Ruto’s Regime
The Azimio coalition, led by Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, launched a scathing attack on ODM leader Raila Odinga, accusing him of siding with President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza government and contradicting opposition principles.
Musyoka, along with Eugene Wamalwa and Jeremiah Kioni, spoke to congregants at AIC Church in Makongeni, Thika, accusing ODM of abandoning the Kenyan people’s struggle by aligning with the current administration.
The former Vice President expressed his dissatisfaction with Odinga’s decision to support Ruto’s government, calling it a betrayal of the principles that the opposition coalition represents.
“You are either with the Gen Zs and the people of Kenya or with Zakayo. It is as simple as that. I Want to invite all the Kenyans of the goodwill, we unite and save our country, we do not have another country,” Musyoka said.
He emphasized that ODM’s support for the government undermines the sacrifices made by those who have fought for justice.
The criticism was directed not only at Odinga but also at President Ruto. Musyoka condemned the current administration’s taxation policies, describing them as excessively burdensome for Kenyan citizens.
“Naskia hataki kuitwa Zakayo peke yake, he laughs, those who joined the government from the opposition should know that their boss is William Ruto,” Kalonzo added.
Eugene Wamalwa also commented on the ongoing political dynamics, assuring Kenya’s youth that Azimio remains committed to good governance.

Wamalwa asserted that the youth are not alone in their quest for accountability and transparency, and pledged the coalition’s continued support.
“We are here to tell you today, the Gen Zs of this county and this country, that you are not alone, even if you feel betrayed, you are not alone, we stand with you,” Wamalwa assured the youth.
“There are those who say Zakayo must go and then those who say Zakayo must stay. There are irrevocable differences,” Wamalwa added.
In his boldest statement yet, DAP K party leader Wamalwa stated emphatically: “We are saying you cannot have both!”
Wamalwa stated that as late Kibaki’s principal assistant, Dr Musyoka played a critical role in putting an end to the post-2007 election violence and bringing the country back from the brink of political and economic disaster.
Wamalwa also recalled that Thika town was the first “Men in Black” coming out experience. In 1994, then FORD Kenya was having National Elections to fill the vacancy left by the death of the doyen of Opposition politics and first Vice President, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga. “I remember that day and those images very clearly.”

Jeremiah Kioni, an outspoken Azimio figure, called for the government to be held accountable for the fatalities that occurred during recent anti-government protests.
He stated that the government’s oppressive actions against protesters cannot be tolerated, reflecting a broader dissatisfaction with the current administration’s approach to dissent and civil rights.
The leaders expressed their disappointment with ODM’s participation in the government through cabinet nominations, arguing that it signifies a betrayal of the people’s trust.
Mt. Kenya leaders who attended the event, led by former Kiambu governor Ferdinand Waititu, promised to rally the GEMA community in support of Kalonzo Musyoka’s presidential bid in the 2027 elections.
This endorsement is viewed as a strategic move to increase Musyoka’s regional support and solidify his position as a key player in Kenya’s political landscape.
