Pauline Njoroge: If Kenyans Wanted Ruto Ouster, June 25, Was The Day, That Was The Climax!

Digital Strategist Pauline Njoroge has expressed doubt about the effectiveness of anti-government protests in forcing President William Ruto out of office.

On Thursday, August 8, Njoroge stated that the most opportune time for Kenyans to challenge the Head of State was on June 25, when the protests reached their peak.

โ€œIf Kenyans wanted Ruto to go wherever, 25th June 2024 was the day. That was the climax! The minute protestors went back home that evening, it was the end of that story, and imagining that that defining moment can be recreated in the next couple of weeks is wishful thinking,โ€ said Njoroge.

She emphasized that the excitement surrounding the nane nane protests is pointless and only serves to harm businesspeople, who are forced to shut down due to fear of violence.

Njoroge added that it is unjust for traders to close their businesses because of violent protests, noting that they are innocent citizens facing the same challenges as everyone else.

โ€œThe buzz around nane nane, tisa tisa, kumi kumi, etc., is just empty talk! The only ones who suffer are those running businesses in town, who can’t open due to fear.

โ€œItโ€™s unfair to subject traders to a volatile environment that worsens their financial situation when they are just innocent Kenyans enduring the same hardships as everyone else,โ€ she stated.

Njoroge highlighted that while there was strong support for the protests initially, it is now time for them to cease.

She noted that the swearing-in of Cabinet Secretaries marked the end of the protests and that Kenyans should now focus on whether these officials will fulfill their promises.

Njoroge also encouraged Kenyans to register as voters ahead of the 2027 general elections to ensure they elect leaders who are capable of guiding the nation.

โ€œItโ€™s crucial that we register to vote so that in 2027 we can choose the leaders we believe are best suited to lead the country. And if maintaining pressure on the government until 2027 is the goal, there has to be a different approach,โ€ Njoroge added.

Her remarks come as Kenyans once again took to the streets of Nairobi CBD for another round of anti-government protests dubbed nane nane.
