UDA MP Accuses DP Gachagua Of Asking Him To Fight President Ruto

Mathira Member of Parliament Eric Wamumbi has disclosed the details of his fallout with Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

In a statement on Wednesday, August 7, Wamumbi revealed that DP Gachagua urged him to oppose President William Ruto and begin seeking allies for the 2027 General Election.

The UDA MP highlighted that he advised Gachagua against this strategy and encouraged him to support the Ruto administration until 2032.

“You were told to insult the former president, and you did it, you even insulted his mother. You told me we fight the sitting president, and we start looking for friends we form ours in 2027.

“I told you it is not right, I told you the right thing is to support the government and work for our people first until 2032. I told you the urgent thing is to finish all the stalled projects. Who did the right thing?” Wamumbi posed.

These accusations from the first-term MP come just weeks after he admitted to a conflict with DP Gachagua.

MP Wamumbi clarified that their disagreement was not related to the reopening of closed bars in Karatina town.

“It is true, There is a Rift between the Deputy president and I. The rift is not about the closed bars in Karatina town which have left the town dead for four months. It is about something bigger than that, he should say the truth and nothing but the truth. I will be telling the truth, and the people of Mathira will pick which side to believe in,” Wamumbi said on July 7.
