Kalonzo: No Trust in Ruto’s CS Picks

Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has maintained that he has no faith in President William Rutoโ€™s Cabinet Secretary nominees.

In a message posted on X on Friday, Kalonzo continued to express his displeasure with Rutoโ€™s pick.

โ€œWe have no faith in KK Cabinet Secretaries nominees,โ€ he said.

Kalonzoโ€™s remark comes just days after he urged Wiper MPs to reject the appointment of ODM members nominated for CS positions.

On Sunday, Kalonzo told Wiper MPs not to approve the appointment of the four ODM nominees when the Committee on Appointments tables its report in the House.

The four are Opiyo Wandayi (Energy), Wycliffe Oparanya (Cooperatives), John Mbadi (National Treasury), and Hassan Joho (Mining).

Kalonzo commented as the Committee on Appointments, chaired by Speaker Moses Wetangula vetted the second batch of nominees.

Interior CS nominee Kithure Kindiki was the first to be vetted on Thursday. Others who were vetted on the same day were Debra Mlongo (Health), Alice Wahome (Lands), Julius Migos Ogamba (Education), and Roselinda Soipan Tuya (Defence).

Lined up for Friday were Andrew Mwihia (Agriculture), Aden Duale (Environment, Eric Muuga (Water), Davis Chirchir (Transport) and Margaret Ndungโ€™u (ICT).

On Saturday, Mbadi, Wandayi, Salim Mvurya (Trade), Rebecca Miano (Tourism), and Kipchumba Murkomen (Sports) will appear before the committee.

The final day of the vetting will see Oparanya, Joho, Alfred Mutua (Labour) Wycliffe Oparanya (Cooperatives), Justin Muturi (Public Service), and Stella Langโ€™at of (Gender) appearing before the MPs.
