Martha Karua’s Firm Message to Raila & ODM Post-Azimio Exit
Martha Karua, leader of the NARC-Kenya Party, on Thursday alleged that some Azimio politicians, headed by Raila Odinga, have co-opted the Gen Z movement to further their political goals and gain high-profile government roles.
In an interview on Obinna Show, Karua stressed that the demand for government accountability by the young protesters was not driven by Azimio or ODM.
“I am against hijacking the demand for accountability by the Gen Zs and making it an opposition thing. Let the Gen Zs express themselves so that we can examine their demands,” Karua stated.
“I believe each of their demands is rooted in the constitution including accountability. What the Gen Zs are asking is putting Kenya first,” she added.
Karua rejected the proposal for a national dialogue put forward by President William Ruto and Raila Odinga, arguing that it would fail to tackle the concerns expressed by Kenyans universally.
She proceeded to point out previous instances where similar discussions had been unsuccessful.

“Do the things that the Gen Zs are saying, If you exit and want us to talk after you exit then that is okay. If people show a lack of confidence in you then you should resign,” the former Azimio principal noted.
She also charged the Head of State with inaction regarding the kidnappings and fatalities of Kenyans observed during the recent protests.
“Look at the number of young people dead, 66 and accounting, so many missing and bodies at the mortuary with falsified identity,” the NARC Kenya leader commented.
Karua’s comments come a week after she officially declared her departure from Azimio la Umoja because of political disagreements within the coalition.
In her statement, Karua highlighted that her continued involvement in the Azimio-One Kenya Coalition had become untenable due to the “current political developments.”
“As NARC Kenya by way of this letter, we are giving notice to exit the Coalition as stipulated in the exit clause(s) in the Coalition Agreement. This notice is effective from the date of this letter,” Karua stated.
