Impeachment Motion Against Meru Governor Mwangaza Dropped
Zipporah Kinya, a Member of the County Assembly (MCA) from Meru County, has retracted the recent impeachment motion against Governor Kawira Mwangaza.
This motion marked the fourth attempt to remove the beleaguered governor from office, contributing to the ongoing political turmoil in the county.
The withdrawal occurred soon after the Njuri Ncheke Council of Elders refused to participate in mediation, despite a court referring the case to them.
In their refusal, the elders expressed that they could not involve themselves in local political issues.

“This is a political matter with many complexities; those who wish to engage in politics should not involve Njuri Ncheke,” the elders declared.
They also emphasized that, while they are willing to assist in other types of disputes, political issues fall outside their realm.
“We are not involved in politics! Although the Meru community is ours, we will not engage in political matters,” they further stated.
When the court referred the case to Njuri Ncheke on Monday, it instructed the Council to adhere to President William Ruto’s directive for regional leaders to address the ongoing conflicts.
“The Njuri Ncheke Supreme Council of Ameru Elders is ordered to present their resolution or lack thereof regarding the dispute between the parties, as directed by the President of the Republic of Kenya, within three weeks from today,” the Meru High Court instructed.
