Gachagua Reacts to Joho, ODM Leaders’ Cabinet Nominations

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has shown his complete backing for President William Ruto’s recent choice to appoint opposition leaders to the Cabinet.

Speaking to congregants at St. Stephen Catholic Parish, Karoroha Holy Family Church in Kinangop, Nyandarua County on Sunday, Gachagua emphasized his strong support for the President’s decisions.

“I have no objection with the new nominees and formation of broad-based Government by the President. Let the new nominees come we work together for the people of Kenya. As the Deputy President and Principal Assistant to the President, my work is to support him, respect and be loyal to him. I support his decisions,” said Gachagua, dispelling any claims of discontentment.

Gachagua reaffirmed his dedication to backing the President, highlighting that his responsibilities include staying loyal, offering counsel, and cooperating closely with President Ruto.

“We have no problem with the formation of a broad-based Government by the President; we are contented with his decision. Let the new nominees come we work together for the people of Kenya. My work is to support the President, be loyal, advise and work with him,” he added.

The Deputy President emphasized the need for accountability in governance, encouraging Kenyans to ensure their leaders are held responsible for their actions and decisions.

“Voters and Kenyans, in general, should start questioning their leaders to enhance accountability in governance and make the leaders accountable for the decisions they make on public issues. The political leaders that are being used to pull others down and drive a wedge in the Mt Kenya community should be cautious because their mission will fail,” Gachagua warned in the wake of a broad-based government.

Gachagua responded to allegations of tribalism by reiterating his dedication and affection for his Mt Kenya community, while also highlighting his inclusive stance toward all Kenyans.

“I have a weakness of loving my people from Mt Kenya’s backyard. You may have to forgive me. It does not mean I have a problem with the other Kenyans. The rest of Kenya are also our friends and we talk the same language and we understand each other,” he explained.

“Let us love each other, support each other, stay close to each other, and care for each other,” Gachagua urged, reinforcing his message of unity and cooperation among all Kenyans.

Gachagua welcomed the four nominees from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) namely, Wycliffe Oparanya, Hassan Joho, John Mbadi, and Opiyo Wandayi, affirming their inclusion in the Cabinet as a positive step towards a united and inclusive government.
