Unity Government Will Unite Kenyans -Ruto

President William Ruto on Saturday said his new unity government which includes opposition figures will provide the requisite environment needed to realize his development agenda

The President regretted that in the past, government programmes have suffered because of political expediency and unnecessary antagonism.

Ruto said that some politicians had been opposing some projects and initiates just because they were in the opposition and not because they would hurt Kenyans.

“I want to say that as we form this administration, I am persuaded beyond doubt that we are going to change country, we are going to unlock the potential of Kenya being that great country that we always wanted it to be,” President Ruto said.

President Ruto has nominated four politicians from the ODM party including Hassan Joho, Wycliffe Oparanya, John Mbadi and Opiyo Wandayi into his cabinet.

He spoke when he continued his tour of the Coast region, taking his development tour to Kwale County on Saturday.

“Politics sometimes delay us because sometimes even projects and programmes that people understand their benefits are opposed by some people because they are in the opposition, in another party or political formation,” Ruto said.

“We have now said that let us leave the formations, parties and differences so that we unite to support everything good and plan development together.”

The president asked Kenyans to shun negative ethnicity and political divisions that work against the prosperity of the country.

“We should never allow negative ethnicity or negative politics to undermine the potential of our county,” President Ruto said.

Speaking at Kinango Technical and Vocational College, Mackinon, the president rallied residents to support his broad-based government.

“Let us all unite and take the country forward,” Ruto said as he insisted that the nomination of former area governor Salim Mvurya as CS for Trade will spur investments.

The President warned Kenyans against protests that lead to the destruction of property saying disagreeing on issues should not be an excuse to cause mayhem.

“We should never agree that divisions and riots and destruction of property that lead to loss of lives and become an impediment to achieving that which can make our country great,” he said.

The president said he had agreed with the area MP Gonzi Rai to build a digital hub in the constituency to create jobs for the hundreds of unemployed youths.

He said the government will provide laptops while the MP will construct the centre as a part of his massive job creation campaign.

“Let us take advantage of those centres to earn dollars just by dialling computers,” Ruto told the young people looking for employment.

The President said the government will construct five Markets in the Constituency.
