“Nawashukuru tena mmenipatia profesa Kithure Kindiki”- Ruto Reveals Why Kindiki is Back as Interior Minister
President William Ruto clarified his decision to nominate Kithure Kindiki as Cabinet Secretary for Interior, just one week after dismissing all his previous cabinet members.
Kindiki is one of the few Cabinet Secretaries who kept their positions in the newly proposed cabinet.
During a speech on Thursday in Tharaka Nithi County, Ruto praised Kindiki for his effective work in safeguarding the country while at the Interior Ministry, which is why he has been retained in his role.
“Nawashukuru tena mmenipatia profesa Kithure Kindiki. Huyu Profesa ndio waziri wetu wa Usalama na huyu jamaa amefanya kazi nzuri. Magaidi wamekwama, Kule Lamu amepanga, kule North Rift hata bandits wamehama,” the President said.
This loosely translates to, “I thank you again for giving me Professor Kithure Kindiki. Professor is our Cabinet Secretary for Interior and this guy has done a good job. The terrorists are stuck. In Lamu, he has done a good job and in the North rift even the bandits have left.”
Ruto spoke to the residents of Tharaka Nithi during his address.

He has planned a variety of events in the county, such as the inauguration of water, electricity, and market development projects.
President Ruto then inquired whether the people of Tharaka Nithi believed Kindiki should keep up his successful work at the ministry, and they replied with a decisive Yes.
“Huyu jamaa anatosha ama hatoshi? Aendelee ama asiendelee? hebu nione kwa mikono.”
Ruto emphasized that Kindiki should keep up the excellent work in ensuring the nation’s safety.
His trip to the county occurred shortly after the President revamped his cabinet, including Kindiki among the new appointees, following the dissolution of his previous cabinet.
To date, Ruto has announced 20 cabinet appointments.
Among these appointments, 11 are individuals from his dissolved cabinet.
The National Assembly’s Committee on Appointments is scheduled to start vetting on Thursday, August 1, 2024.
Kindiki will be the first nominee to appear before the Committee at 8 am.
