“Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop”- Gachagua Addresses Lobbying for More Mt Kenya Representation in Govt Shakeup

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua defended his position on Mount Kenya politics, countering critics who have accused him of tribalism and failing to acknowledge that his role as the nation’s second-in-command requires a focus on national unity.

At a church service in PCEA Kayole on Sunday, Gachagua expressed his commitment to advocating for Mount Kenya’s interests without any hesitation or partiality.

The Deputy President affirmed that his comments were not meant to malign other regions but to support the needs of his political stronghold.

“I’ve faced criticism for speaking in Kikuyu, but I will persist. If supporting our people and fighting for their cause is considered a mistake, then I accept that,” Gachagua said.

He also emphasized the importance of Kenyans embracing their native languages and traditions.

Gachagua reiterated that he would not back down despite accusations of tribalism, asserting that his efforts are dedicated to defending the rights of his community.

During the church service, Gachagua pledged to contribute to building churches for the community, highlighting its significance.

The Deputy President also mentioned that he would meet with the National Administration on Monday to address a local boundary dispute.

He urged the youth to cease anti-government protests, asserting that the government had heard their concerns and responded to the issues raised during the demonstrations.

“I am asking our youth, as your elders, we have listened and understood your message. There is no need to continue protesting,” Gachagua remarked.

He encouraged the youth to consider dialogue as a viable solution to current problems.

These comments follow Azimio leader Raila Odinga’s demands to President William Ruto to support a national dialogue, contingent upon addressing grievances from doctors and teachers as stated in a Sunday morning statement.
