Education Ministry Withdraws All 2023 University Calling Letters
The Ministry of Education announced on Friday that all admission letters issued by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) to the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) students have been rendered invalid.
Education Principal Secretary Beatrice Muganda stated in a letter dated July 19 that the admission letters previously given to students are now void. She clarified that this directive applies specifically to students intending to pursue degree courses.
“The Ministry of Education wishes to inform the public, especially parents and students, that the fees outlined in the admission letters for each degree program are no longer applicable,” part of the letter read.
“The previously communicated fee structure for degree programs is now invalid and should no longer be considered,” the notice further explained.
Despite this, the Ministry of Education confirmed that students’ placements in their chosen academic programs would remain unaffected.

The Ministry also reassured students that their spots in the various programs are secure.
All universities have been instructed to update and communicate the new fees by August 5.
“It is crucial for students and their parents to understand that placements in academic programs will not change,” the Ministry of Education emphasized.
This announcement follows a recent directive from the National Assembly Education Committee, which instructed the Ministry of Education to withdraw all university admission letters.
During a committee meeting, the Ministry was urged to have universities recall the admission letters due to discrepancies in the fees students were expected to pay. The recall decision aims to correct the fee amounts to align with established classifications.
