Party Horror: Woman’s Narrow Escape After Stabbing at Nairobi Politician’s Apartment
Investigators at Kilimani Police Station in Nairobi are probing an incident where a woman was stabbed several times in a short-stay rental apartment within Nairobi and survived with stab wounds.
Patricia Muthoni Karanja is the latest victim of violence reported in a short-stay rental apartment in the country.
Her story is a testimony of how she survived an attack that has left her nursing serious stab wound injuries.
“They kept attacking me, I was screaming because I realized I had to save myself, record what was happening, or no one would ever know what happenedโฆ” recounts Patricia Muthoni.
The young woman was invited to a meeting with a sitting legislator which turned into a party at a club within Kilimani. As the party went on, the victim, two other women, and the politician agreed to spend the night at a short-stay rental within Kilimani.
The victim says that while at the rental, the two other women, well-known to the politician, turned their rage on her. She says one of the women attacked her, stabbing her several times.
“โฆthey were picking forks, knives from the kitchen and attacking meโฆas I tried to defend myself, Sally took a knife and stabbed me on this side,” adds Patricia.
After the assault, she was locked in the room and left alone. She was rescued by security guards who heard her cry.
“I was screaming, banging the door, I was screaming, and the guards came to the house. The guard then called the police. While at the station, I could not take my statement, I was unconsciousโฆ” she says

Confirming the incident, Kilimani Police Commander Kobia Bariu said Patricia suffered serious stab wounds to her lower abdomen and other bodily injuries.
โThe stab wound was so deep, it was on the lower abdomenโฆ,” said the police commander.

After the rescue, she was admitted to a nearby facility for medical attention.
Police have since arrested the suspect.
“Investigations are ongoing, and with time, we will get to know what transpiredโฆ” added the police commander.
“They were on a drinking spree. During this time, it’s when the fighting started. We are finding out more detailsโฆ”
Even though she is concerned about the progress of investigations, investigators say they are monitoring the case and court process.
