High Court Judge David Majanja Passes Away
High Court Judge David Majanja has passed away.
He died at a Nairobi hospital on Wednesday, July 10, 2024.
Initial reports suggest that he had been admitted for surgery.
Appointed in 2011, Justice Majanja served at the Milimani Civil Division court until his passing.
On May 28, 2024, he was sworn in as a member of the Judicial Service Commission.
This followed his re-election to represent the Kenya Magistrates and Judges Association on the JSC.
Justice Majanja joined the JSC on May 14, 2019, for a five-year term.
His election came after Judge Aggrey Muchelule’s term ended on April 4, 2019.
Before his re-election, he chaired the Human Resource Management Committee and was a member of the Audit Committee.

He also chaired the Governance and Risk Management Committee and the Learning and Development Committee.
Justice Majanja attended Hill School in Eldoret and Alliance High School.
He earned a Master of Laws from the University of Pretoria and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Nairobi.
He completed his Post Graduate Diploma in Law at the Kenya School of Law and was admitted to the Bar in 1998.
His career included roles at Mohammed and Muigai Advocates and Onyango and Ohaga Advocates before founding Majanja Luseno and Company Advocates in 2007.
Specializing in Civil and Commercial Law, he also engaged in public interest litigation.
He served as assisting counsel for the Waki Commission on Post-Election Violence.
Justice Majanja previously presided over the Homa Bay and Migori High Courts and was vice chairperson of the Judiciary Committee on Elections at his death.
