MP Wamuchomba Warns Gen-Z Against Futile Talks with President Ruto, Urges Push for Constitutional Change

Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba on Saturday cautioned the youth against engaging in talks with President William Ruto as suggested by the government, calling it a pointless endeavor.

She argued that the National Multi-Sectoral Forum (NMSF), established by the government, is merely a distraction to buy time.

“The multisectoral committee is just a ploy to buy time and dilute the unified voice of Kenya’s disillusioned youth. In my view, itโ€™s like trying to make Ugali from pounding waterโ€”no matter how much effort you put in, nothing substantial will come out,” she stated.

Wamuchomba emphasized that the youth are unlikely to gain anything meaningful from these discussions.

She referenced the NADCO report, produced by representatives from the ruling Kenya Kwanza Coalition and Azimio, which she claimed has not resulted in any significant achievements and remains neglected months after its submission.

The legislator also highlighted the recent fertilizer scandal where farmers received substandard fertilizer through a government subsidy program.

According to Wamuchomba, the report from the selected committee on this issue was not adopted in parliament, which she considers a major failure.

She urged the youth to push for constitutional change to achieve their goals.

“To the Gen Zs, this is your moment for constitutional change. Those before you were deceived and subdued, which is why the current systems don’t favor you. No wonder you’re expressing your frustrations in unique ways.

My advice is to seize this moment and demand change. We are watching and supporting you from afar,” she stated.

President Ruto announced the creation of the multi-sectoral forum on Saturday, aiming to bring together diverse stakeholders to engage in dialogue with government representatives.

In a letter obtained by Gossipa2z.com, Head of the Public Service Felix Koskei initiated this process by inviting the youth, who, through their representatives, will be part of the 100-member steering committee.
