Protesters Try to Storm Nyaribari Chache MP’s Home Over Controversial Finance Bill

Protesters attempted to storm the rural residence of Nyaribari Chache MP Zaheer Jhanda this afternoon.

Jhanda supported the Finance Bill, 2024, which has faced strong opposition from Kenyans, especially the youth.

A team of anti-riot police officers was deployed to Jhanda’s home to prevent attacks from angry youth.

Following the vote, Jhanda took to social media, urging the youth to give President William Ruto time to fulfill his campaign promises.

He praised Ruto as a compassionate and understanding leader.

Jhanda also mentioned that the controversial clauses in the Bill, which concerned the youth, had been removed.

โ€œThe government is making every effort. The President has performed admirably on the international stage. Why undermine his achievements?โ€ he stated.

Several MPs who voted in favor of the Bill have experienced property damage and attacks on their homes by youth opposing the Bill.

On Tuesday, unknown amounts of property were damaged at the home of Molo MP and National Assembly Finance Committee chair Kuria Kimani.

Angry protesters breached the perimeter wall of the expensive house, set cars on fire, and destroyed them, while others looted valuables from the home.

Some intruders also made off with animals from the property.
