Gachagua Exposes Details of Secret WhatsApp Group “Project 22” Causing Division with Ruto

Following tensions between President William Ruto and his Deputy, Rigathi Gachagua has addressed the situation.

During an empowerment program in Kirinyaga County, the Deputy President accused certain allies of President Ruto of undermining his relationship with the Head of State.

Gachagua revealed the existence of a WhatsApp group called Project 22, allegedly aimed at removing him from his current government role.

He also disclosed instances where these politicians had reportedly fueled discord between him and the president.

โ€œI have only two bosses, President Ruto and the people of Kenya. Some of the president’s friends also want to be my boss. Is that possible?โ€ Gachagua questioned.

โ€œThey are now inciting other leaders against me through Project 22, claiming I am unfit,โ€ he added.

According to Gachagua, efforts to oust him began in 2022, before Ruto took office as Kenya’s 5th President.

He recounted how some politicians tried to persuade Ruto to choose a different running mate, suggesting he would fail with Gachagua.

“When Ruto was selecting his running mate, some said if he picked me, he would fail,” Gachagua stated.

However, Ruto ultimately chose Gachagua despite the pressure.

Gachagua also dismissed accusations of tribalism stemming from his one-man, one-shilling revenue-sharing formula.

He emphasized that the opposition only strengthened his resolve to promote national unity through the proposal.
