Changes to German Visa Application Process for Kenyans Announced

The German Embassy in Nairobi has declared alterations in visa application procedures for Kenyans across four visa categories.

For vocational training, study visas, handling of foreign qualifications, and research and science visas, the Embassy will now outsource the application process to TLS Contact.

TLS Contact is a service handling visa and consular affairs for various governments globally, facilitating administrative tasks through its network of Visa Application Centres.

Applicants for these visa categories will now need to submit their applications through the TLS Service instead of the German Embassy in Nairobi. This change will come into effect on June 3, 2024.

The acceptance of national visa applications for vocational training, studies, recognition of foreign professional qualifications, and research and science (as per Section 5 of the Ordinance on the Employment of Foreigners under the German Residence Act) will be handled by the external service provider TLScontact starting from June 3, 2024, according to the notice.

Interested individuals will now need to schedule appointments through the TLScontact website.

A service fee of 28.50 Euros, equivalent to Ksh4,020 based on the current exchange rate, will be applied per application.

TLScontact offers additional services for a fee, including photocopying and biometric photo services, passport courier delivery, and SMS notifications for passport collection.

The Visa Application Center is located on the 4th Floor, 9 West Building, Ring Road Parklands, Westlands, Nairobi, Kenya.

Visa applications can be submitted to TLScontact between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays, after scheduling an appointment in advance.

Kenya recently struck a deal with Germany to enable Kenyans to migrate for work, marking significant changes in the employment landscape.

The government revealed on May 16 that an agreement had been reached with Germany, paving the way for 250,000 job openings for Kenyans.
