RAILA Man LEdema Ole Kina Criticizes Kindiki’s Directive on Jeff Mwathi’s Death Investigation

Narok Senator, Ledama Olekina, has criticized Interior Cabinet Secretary, Kithure Kindiki, for his directive to investigate the death of Jeff Mwathi.

Kindiki had instructed the Inspector General of Police, Japheth Koome, and the Director of Criminal Investigations, Mohamed Amin, to conduct a thorough investigation into the death of Jeff Mwathi, who was reported to have died at the rented house of Mugithi artist, DJ Fatxo.

However, Senator Ledama expressed his disapproval of Kindiki’s actions on Twitter, claiming that it was against the Constitution for the CS to direct the IG to investigate specific offenses.

He reminded Kindiki that the Constitution barred anyone from giving such directives, as it was strictly the responsibility of the police to conduct investigations without external influence.

Ledama further advised Kindiki to respect the rule of law as stipulated in Article 245.

Kindiki’s directive had been seen as an attempt to address the claims of collusion at Kasarani Police Station, where Mwathi’s death had been reported.

The move was, however, seen as an overreach of his authority by the senator, who insisted that the Constitution should be followed to the letter.

The senator’s criticism of Kindiki’s actions underscores the importance of upholding the rule of law and ensuring that constitutional provisions are followed in all matters.

The police should be allowed to carry out their investigations independently, without external influence or interference.

The Constitution provides clear guidelines on the roles and responsibilities of various government officials, and these guidelines must be adhered to at all times.

In conclusion, the criticism of Senator Ledama Olekina serves as a reminder that no one is above the law, and that the Constitution is the supreme law of the land.

All government officials must adhere to its provisions and respect the rule of law, including the independence of the police in carrying out their investigations.
