Tragic Turn in Kisumu: Teen Beats Relative To Death For Calling Father A Witch, Father Killed By Mob
An 18-year-old adolescent was apprehended by authorities in Nyakach, Kisumu County, following an incident where he fatally assaulted a kinsman who purportedly defamed his father by branding him a practitioner of dark arts in the rural expanse of Dirubi village.
The young man’s father, identified as Valentine Ochieng, tragically met his demise at the hands of a furious mob who stormed his residence seeking retribution.
Fuelled by rage, the incensed crowd proceeded to raze to the ground four dwellings situated within the domain of the accused.
As per the official police statement, the accused and his father were returning home together when they encountered the aforementioned relative, who levied accusations of sorcery against his paternal figure.

A heated altercation ensued between the accused and the relative, culminating in a violent confrontation where the accused, wielding a stout wooden implement, delivered fatal blows to the victim’s head.
Prompt medical attention was sought as the victim was swiftly transported to Nyabondo Mission Hospital, subsequently transferred to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH), where regrettably, he succumbed to his injuries.
Following this tragic incident, a vengeful mob laid siege to the domicile of the suspect’s father, administering their brand of justice through violent means before setting ablaze the homestead.
Law enforcement authorities have initiated an inquiry into the matter, aiming to shed light on the circumstances surrounding this grievous sequence of events.
