Man Jumps from 4th Floor in Nyali, Prompting DCI Investigation; Similar Incident Reported in Mombasa CBD
Officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Nyali, Mombasa County, are investigating an incident where a 35-year-old man allegedly jumped from the fourth floor of a building.
Detectives reported that they were alerted by a phone call from the apartment’s caretaker, informing them about the incident.
Upon arrival at the scene, the officers sought more details from the caretaker, who was in a state of shock due to the incident.
“The terrified caretaker, working in the Kadzandani area, described witnessing a person land on the ground, only to recognize him as one of the tenants,” the detectives recounted.
The detectives also spoke to the man’s wife, who stated that her husband jumped after noticing three men at their door.
“The wife mentioned hearing a knock at the door. When she went to answer it, her husband, who had been looking out from the bedroom window, suddenly rushed to the balcony and jumped,” detailed the DCI officers.

After the man jumped, the three men fled the scene, while neighbors, many of whom were watching in shock, attempted to intervene.
Despite the fall, the man survived but sustained broken limbs and was taken to Coast General Hospital.
“Although the reason for the jump is still unclear, efforts are underway to locate the three men who have since disappeared,” noted the DCI officers.
In a similar event, a 23-year-old man died after jumping from the fourth floor of a hotel in Mombasa’s Central Business District.
This incident also shocked local witnesses. The police, upon being notified, arrived at the scene, secured the area, and started their investigation.
According to the police report, the man’s death resulted from injuries to his head and abdomen.
