Kenyan Majority Whip Osoro Addresses Deputy President’s Absence from Political Scene
National Assembly Majority Whip Sylvanus Osoro has replied to inquiries from Kenyans regarding the whereabouts of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Osoro addressed concerns about Gachagua’s absence from the political arena, stating that the Deputy President is taking time off work to rest.
He remarked, “I’ve seen people raise issues with the absence of the Deputy President in the political scene.”
According to Osoro, the Deputy President has been under significant pressure and is now taking a break to relax for about a week.
“The Deputy President can also relax. He has been worked up for some time and has now taken a break for a week or so, let him relax,” said the South Mugirango MP.
Osoro indicated that Gachagua will be in Nyeri on Sunday to address any queries people may have.

“I hear tomorrow he will be in Nyeri, he will speak for himself. For now, it has been very tough on him.”
However, Osoro cautioned against the use of blackmail by political leaders to navigate politics.
Although he didn’t specify any individual, he emphasized the need to move away from personality-focused politics and prioritize development.
“The most important thing for us in the political space, we must shun blackmail for us to survive. It’s important for us to stop the personality discussion and focus on development,” Osoro added.
These comments follow questions from some Kenyans regarding the Deputy President’s absence from various official events over recent weeks.
Reports from some media outlets suggested that he has missed at least 11 significant functions.
Traditionally, the President and the Deputy President have welcomed international guests together and attended numerous events jointly, including county tours.
