Limuru III: The Mystery Behind Kikuyu Elders Blowing Horn 12 Times

During the Limuru III Conference on Friday, Kikuyu elders were actively involved in the proceedings. Leaders emphasized the importance of unity within the Mt Kenya region.

As part of the event, the elders were invited to perform a traditional blessing aimed at fostering unity among the region’s inhabitants. One elder, accompanied by several others, made a brief speech before blowing a horn twelve times.

The nine blows symbolized the nine Gikuyu subtribes, while the remaining three represented the unity of the Agikuyu, Embu, and Meru communities. This act was seen as a realization of their prayers leading up to the Limuru III meeting.

Speaking in Agikuyu, the elders highlighted the significance of the gathering, framing it as an answer to their prayers for community unity, which began with prayers conducted by elders and the church.
