Mount Kenya Showdown: CS Kuria Steps into Limuru III Organizer Ranks
The Limuru III meeting, positioned as a socio-economic and political convergence for the Mt. Kenya region, has attracted attention from various political factions, just two days before its scheduled occurrence.
Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has recently joined the cohort of organizers for the event on Wednesday evening, although the specific agenda of the gathering remains opaque.
Kuria remarked, “We commenced organizing the Limuru I meeting with the late President Mwai Kibaki, and that’s why I am committed to facilitating the Limuru III meeting.”
He further indicated that the meeting scheduled for Friday will assemble professionals, businessmen from Mt. Kenya, and representatives from religious organizations to deliberate on the region’s trajectory.
Kuria also hinted that a discussion on resource allocation will be prominently featured at Limuru III, following Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s initiation of dialogue on the ‘one man, one vote, one shilling’ principle last week.

“We intend to engage in that discourse because it’s warranted. It’s imperative to address how our constituents are allocated resources under the one-man-one-vote-one-shilling principle,” Kuria emphasized.
Earlier, leaders aligned with the Azimio faction from the region, led by Jeremiah Kioni and former Laikipia Governor Nderitu Muriithi, asserted that the gathering marks the beginning of protests against the government’s imposition of high taxes as outlined in the Finance Bill 2024.
“We are commencing our resistance on Friday as part of our locally devised solutions to mitigate the escalating cost of living,” Kioni declared.
“Already, there’s an influx of individuals expressing interest in attending our assembly… we have initiated an accreditation process for the participants,” Muriithi added.
Organizers have confirmed that at least 30 political parties from the Mt. Kenya region have affirmed their participation in the meeting.
