Ruto Ally Denies Allegations of Backing Ndindi Nyoro for Deputy Presidency in 2027

Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi rejected allegations on Wednesday that the faction supporting the Head of State was backing Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro to position himself as Deputy President William Ruto’s running mate in 2027, with aspirations to succeed the currentย president.

During an interview on Tuesday evening with Inooro FM, Sudi clarified that neither he nor Ruto’s close associate, Farouk Kibet, was financially supporting Nyoro.

Sudi distanced himself further from involvement in Mt. Kenya politics, asserting that leaders from that region should pursue their agendas without interfering in others’ affairs.

As a staunch ally of President William Ruto, the Rift Valley MP emphasized his camaraderie with Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, stating his commitment to supporting Gachagua in 2027.

“We are all united in our stance for 2027, Farouk and I stand by Gachagua,” Sudi affirmed.

He argued againstย the imposition ofย restrictions on Kenyan politicians regarding their speech and movements, emphasizing that politicians usually gain popularity for valid reasons, and they should not be limited in expressing themselves or visiting different areas.

Sudi also dismissed speculations about the Kenya Kwanza government considering a female candidate as a presidential running mate in 2027, clarifying that President Ruto’s remarks about future elections were misinterpreted to refer to 2027 specifically.

Regarding the nationwide tours, these remarks were in response to conjectures sparked by Ndindi Nyoro’s recent visits to various regions, which some interpreted as early campaigning efforts.

Political analysts suggested that Nyoro’s tours aimed to bolster his popularity beyond Mt. Kenya, potentially positioning himself to become Ruto’s deputy in 2027 and eventually succeed him.

In March 2024, Nyoro visited Bondo shortly after a trip by theย Presidentย to the same area, raising questions among observers.

However, Gachagua refuted rumors about strains in his relationship with President Ruto on March 8, 2024, maintaining that the UDA presidential ticket from 2022 would remain unchanged in 2027.
