Kenyan Athlete Eliud Kipchoge Sued Over Alleged Unauthorized Property Purchase

Legendary Kenyan athlete Eliud Kipchoge, alongside two others, faces a lawsuit regarding the acquisition of a disputed property worth Ksh100 million in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County.

Court documents reveal that Kipchoge and his co-defendants are being sued by the wife of fellow athlete Daniel Komen, alleging the purchase of the property without her consent.

The lawsuit, lodged at Eldoret High Court, contends that the sale of the matrimonial land occurred without the knowledge of Komen’s wife.

Joining Kipchoge in the legal action are two local businessmen who also claim ownership of a portion of the contested property.

Petitioning the court, Komen’s wife seeks to annul the sale, arguing its illegality, including the transfer of the title deed.

According to the court filings, the land spans 200 acres and is officially registered as part of the Southern East of Eldoret Municipality in Uasin Gishu County.

Expressing astonishment, Komen’s wife discovered Kipchoge and the businessmen occupying the land without her awareness of any transaction.

She accuses the trio of exploiting her husband to acquire the land at a significantly reduced price, despite its prime location.

Reportedly, the trio only paid Ksh10 million for the expansive 200-acre parcel.

While acknowledging his wife’s co-ownership, Komen asserts that the sale was conducted with her approval.

Disputing any knowledge of the sale, she denies consenting to the transaction, expressing surprise at strangers occupying the property.

Komen’s wife became a co-owner of the land after extending loans and providing her husband with funds to secure part of the property.
