MP Maryanne Kitany Set to Counter Linturi in Parliament, Confirms Wetangula
Aldai MP Maryanne Kitany plans to address the House directly regarding accusations made against her during a committee hearing investigating Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi over alleged counterfeit fertilizer issues.
Kitany informed the House on Monday that she was implicated during the Select Committee proceedings discussing Linturi’s potential dismissal.
Speaker Moses Wetang’ula stated that Kitany would be given an opportunity to respond to the accusations at a future date.
Kitany had requested the removal of her name from the committee’s report as she was not allowed to present her side to the members.
She stated, “During the committee proceedings, the CS mentioned me unfavorably, even suggesting I was the initiator of the impeachment Motion.”
Kitany expressed her desire to clarify matters before the committee but was denied the chance.

Wetang’ula confirmed that Kitany’s name did not appear in the report but assured her of an opportunity to address the House directly.
Linturi claimed on Wednesday that Kitany instigated the motion for his dismissal.
The committee members debated whether they needed information about the past relationship between Linturi and Kitany.
Busia Woman Representative Catherine Omanyo urged the committee to invite Kitany to present her side of the story.
Omanyo stressed the importance of hearing both sides before reaching conclusions.
Committee chair Naomi Waqo stated that a decision on inviting Kitany would be made later.
