Ruto Axes 9 Multimillion Projects in Murkomen’s Ministry
To implement cost-cutting measures, President William Ruto’s administration has pinpointed projects within the Ministry of Roads that won’t be financed in the upcoming financial year.
Nine projects that were allocated millions during the 2023/24 financial year will not receive further funding.
This information comes from the National Treasury’s Estimates of Development Expenditure for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025.
It’s worth noting that these projects are at varying stages of progress; some will use the current year’s funding, while others will get additional budget in the 2025/25 fiscal year and beyond.
After receiving Ksh17 million, the dualling of Eldoret Town won’t get additional funds.

Similarly, the Eldoret Town Bypass project received Ksh21 million in this financial year but will not receive further funding.
In the Lower Eastern region, the government has stopped funding for the Kitui Turn Off-Mwingi-Garissa Road and Kangundo Road-Greater Eastern Bypass Link Road-Phase 1.
The dualling of the Muthaiga-Kiambua (C32) has also been temporarily stopped after being allocated Ksh5 million in the 2024/25 financial year.
These two projects incurred costs of Ksh10 million and Ksh20 million, respectively, in the current financial year.
President William Ruto’s administration also plans to cease funding for access roads to Ruai Police Station and Kasoiyo Saos Society (D350).
Kasoiyo Saos Society (D350) received Ksh98 million in the 2023/24 financial year.
Other projects that will need to rely on the current budget for completion include North Horr-Jn Darathe Ap Camp (RD A4) and the Kericho Northern Bypass.
