Raila’s Strategic Talks with US Ambassador: Inside the High-Level Meeting (Photos)
On Friday, May 3, Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga met with US Ambassador to Kenya Meg Whitman at his residence in Karen, Nairobi.
In a statement, Odinga mentioned they talked about the flood crisis in Kenya, ongoing aid efforts, and his candidacy for the African Union Commission chairperson role.

“We welcomed US Ambassador Meg Whitman this morning to discuss various topics including the flood emergency and assistance in Kenya, US investments in the country, and my bid for the AUC chairmanship,” said Odinga.
Whitman is the fourth foreign envoy Raila has welcomed to his Karen home in two weeks.
On April 26, he hosted United Kingdom High Commissioner to Kenya Neil Wigan, where they explored opportunities for strengthening bilateral and multilateral relations between Kenya, Africa, and the UK.

Before meeting Wigan, Raila hosted Norwegian Ambassador to Kenya Gunnar Andreas Holm and Australian High Commissioner to Kenya Jenny Da Rin at his home.

According to the ODM leader, his discussions with Holm and Da Rin centered on regional, bilateral, and global topics.
“The former Prime Minister and the diplomats reaffirmed their commitment to the long-standing ties and shared values connecting their countries. They also explored ways to enhance cooperation on local and global issues of mutual interest,” stated Odinga.
Odinga and the diplomats also discussed ongoing political, security, economic, and humanitarian aid in Kenya and other African countries, touching on situations in Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo, and the importance of lasting peace in those regions.
